A clinical trial of propenidazol (NASKA) in vaginitis due to Trichomonas vaginalis and/or Candida albicans

Abstract

|
|
A vaginal discharge is one of the most frequent gynecologic complaints and abnormal discharge usually can be cured once a proper diagnosis is established.
The purpose of this trial is to assess the therapeutic effectiveness and tolerability of propenidazol preparation (NASKA) in the treatment of vaginitis due to Trichomonas vaginalis and/or Candida albicans as the etiological agents, not treated recently with other drugs.
The results are as followings;
1) Symptoms as itching, burning sensation, leucorrhea and inflammation, are subsided in 67 patients (95.7%) among 70. patients.
2) The effectiveness after treatment with propenizol preparation is; Excellent 63(90%) out of 70 cases,
Fair 4 (5. 7%) Out of 70 cases, Poor 3 (4.3%) out of 70 cases.
3) Systemic and local tolerability was generally excellent, and 2 cases (2.9%) developed heartburn and skin rash after medication.
